FAMILIES and individuals with money problems are being given a helping hand.

Havant Borough Council is holding a community advice day aimed at people who are struggling financially.

Debt worries, unemployment, bedroom tax issues and benefit cap concerns will all be discussed at the event at Havant Public Service Plaza, on September 16.

Councillor Yvonne Weeks, who is responsible for economy and communities, said: ‘We are doing everything we can to support families and individuals who find themselves in difficulties since the new regulations in April.

‘The council is listening to residents’ circumstances and are doing everything they can to help. If you are worried come along and talk to an adviser it really does help to talk through your issues and see if there is some help available that perhaps you were not aware of.’

The event is from 10am to 2pm. Supermarket vouchers worth £500 are up for grabs in a free prize draw. There will be free refreshments and children’s activities.
