GOSPORT Borough Council is urging residents to stand in the upcoming county elections.

A briefing is being held on Thursday at 6pm at the Town Hall in Gosport’s High Street. Five county councillors will be elected to represent Gosport at a county level in elections on May 2.

You are eligible if you are British or a citizen of the Commonwealth or European Union, 18-years-old or over and are registered to vote in Gosport for at least 12 months.

Anyone sentenced to more than three years in jail after May 2008 cannot be elected.
