AN MP has raised education leaders’ concerns about government plans to turn all schools into academies.

Suella Fernandes told education secretary Nicky Morgan there are concerns in Hampshire about the plan during a meeting of the Education Select Committee.

The Fareham MP said: ‘What would you say is the benefit from the white paper for those primary schools that do perform well?’

Mrs Morgan said good schools could do better and that no-one should be complacent.

She said: ‘I do just think actually that the best people to run schools are the people right at the front line – the heads, the teachers and the governors.’
