Portsmouth City Council wants comments from the public about proposals for the MB and MC zones until September 20 when the feedback will be analysed.

The zones, around Orchard Road and Bramble Road, were the subject of controversy when they were implemented and then removed within a few months in 2014.

But the new Lib Dem administration vowed to look at reinstating the zones after public consultations.

Cllr Lynne Stagg, the council's transport boss, said: '˜The consultations for the proposed MB/MC zones end on September 20 and we welcome comments from anyone who feels they may be affected by the zones.

'˜We hope those residents living in the areas covered by the proposed zones have had chance to respond, and encourage those who haven't already done so to send their comments to us.' During a six-month consultation after the removal of MB, 27 residents were recorded in favour of reinstating the zone, with five against. Since 2015 there have been 16 official requests for the zone.

The same consultation showed that 25 residents wanted MC reinstated, and two did not, and 18 further requests for the zone have been recorded since. This consultation is part of a programme looking at parking across the city.

A decision is expected by the end of this year.
