WORK begins this week to tackle a flooding hotspot in a village.

West Sussex County Council is starting work in Newells Lane, Bosham, and laying a new 225m drainage pipe.

The works will cost about £20,000 and take 10 days to complete.

Geoff Lowry, head of highsways and transport, said: ‘The problem in Newells Lane has caused considerable distress and inconvenience to local residents, because they have been forced to find alternative ways to travel out of the area.’
