Fareham MP steps up pressure on Southern Health following CQC review
Inspectors from the Care Quality Commission have told Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust it must make ‘significant improvements’.It follows a report commissioned by NHS England highlighting the trust’s failure to investigate and learn from the deaths of patients; particularly those receiving care in its older people’s, learning disability and mental health services. Ms Fernandes, who is the health spokesperson for the Hampshire all-party group of MPs, said: ‘This warning from the CQC is a serious development, and will require firm action in response. ‘There is now an urgent need to reassure patients and their relatives that the trust is taking adequate measures to address the failings identified by the earlier report and now by the CQC.‘I will be seeking a meeting with Southern Health’s executives to discuss how they intend to respond.’
