Suella Braverman, MP for Fareham, and county councillors Sean Woodward and Rob Humby met with transport minister Baroness Vere to discuss expanding junction 10 on Tuesday March 3.

The meeting focused on finding potential sources of capital for the works, which face a funding gap of more £20m.

The Solent LEP was one of several potential funders discussed.

Mrs Braverman said: ‘Today’s meeting was incredibly fruitful.

‘We have made invaluable progress on identifying funding strategies for junction 10 on the M27, whilst highlighting to the Department the necessity of the improvements for the prosperity of the Fareham district.

‘Similarly, I was also pleased to be able to draw attention to the Rapid Transit bid which represents a huge leap forward in the connectivity of the South East Hampshire region.’

The junction expansion is key to construction of the £1bn Welborne development, which will see 6,000 homes built in the north of Fareham.

A total of £59m has been allocated to the junction 10 improvements, with contributors including the Department for Transport and the Welborne developers.
