A LAST attempt to block a ban on smoking in cars with child passengers has failed.

Fareham’s Tory MP Mark Hoban was among 74 MPs in the Commons who voted against regulations to introduce the measure from October 1.

Despite these protests, the law was passed – with a majority of 268.

People failing to comply could face a £50 fixed penalty notice.
