Fareham students to hold debate over Britain's future in EU

STUDENTS from Fareham College are set to put their questions about the EU referendum to politicians.

The college will hold a debate ahead of the key public vote on June 23 to decide Britain’s future in Europe.

Tory leader of Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Sean Woodward, will attend and forward his arguments for why Britain should leave the EU.

George Hollingbery, MP for Meon Valley, will set out his reasons for why Britain should remain.

Principal and chief executive of Fareham College, Nigel Duncan, will chair the debate.

He said: ‘This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to hear from two experienced politicians why they believe we should remain or leave the EU.

‘For many of them, it will be the first time that they have voted and certainly the impact of the decision will be keenly felt by their generation perhaps most of all.

‘I’m delighted that we are able to welcome two such notable figures to field the questions our students have and help them to come to a decision about which way they will vote next week.’

The debate is on Thursday from 12.30pm until 2pm.
