Veterans from the Royal Air Force Association were at the store to raise awareness for the campaign and sell items to boost donations.

The Wings Appeal is the fundraising arm of the association and helps raise vital funds to support serving and former RAF personnel and their families in times of need.

Kari Pratt is Tesco Fareham's community champion and is also involved with the Fareham branch of the association.

She said: '˜This is the third year we have supported the Wings Appeal.

'˜We hold the event around the Battle of Britain anniversary which is September 15.

'˜The event was brilliant and we raised £399 for the appeal which is more than previous years.

'˜It is great that customers continue to support it.'

Kari praised the staff as well for getting involved and making the effort to dress up.

'˜Colleagues always enjoy dressing up and it is the highlight of the year for dress up,' she added.

'˜It was lovely welcoming the veterans into the store too from the association.'
