ADVICE sessions are being held to help people understand changes to the way they pay council tax.

On Monday, April 1, council tax benefit is being replaced by the council tax support scheme.

Under the scheme, some people’s bills will not be discounted as much.

Fareham Borough Council is running drop-in advice sessions to help people understand the changes. Benefits officers from the council will be answering questions and offering advice.

Leader of Fareham Borough Council Cllr Seán Woodward said: ‘We understand that some residents will have questions. That’s why we’re running these sessions so that people can find how they may be affected and what support will be provided.

‘We believe the new council tax support scheme is a fair way to provide help to those who need it most.’

Sessions will be held from 8.45am until 5.15pm until Friday, April 5 at the Octagon Lounge at Ferneham Hall.
