FIRE bosses on the mainland will now run the Isle of Wight’s service.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service’s chief officer Dave Curry is now heading up both services.
The island’s three senior officers will transfer to the Hampshire team. The area and group manager will stay on the island.
A spokesman said both services will benefit financially. Councillor Royston Smith, chairman of Hampshire Fire and Rescue Authority and Cllr Phil Jordan, executive member for public protection at Isle of Wight council agreed the move.
