THE first families will start moving in to new homes in Rowner in a big step forward for the estate’s transformation.

The £145m Rowner regeneration project, which will deliver hundreds of new homes and a Tesco superstore to the area, is approaching the end of the first phase.

And next Saturday, a celebration will take place to mark the milestone as residents get the keys to the door. Almost 80 families are expected to have moved in by the end of the year.

The mayor of Gosport, Councillor Chris Carter, will attend the celebration at New Howe Road at 1.30pm with children’s entertainment including face painting.

Council leader Mark Hook said: ‘I am delighted we have got to the stage now where improvements can be seen.’
