DEMOCRACY, development and respect for diversity will be marked on Commonwealth Day.

Chichester District Council will raise the Commonwealth Flag at 10am on Monday, March 10. Around 500 flags are due to be raised across the UK.

Councillor Martyn Bell said: ‘It allows people to join together with others throughout the Commonwealth in a spirit of respect and understanding and to celebrate the variety and unmatched diversity of our global family of 53 Commonwealth countries.’

Flags will also be raised in Portsmouth, Havant, Gosport and Fareham.
