A FORMER council leader has died.

Harvey Cole led Hampshire County Council for a short while in 1997.

County councillors were informed yesterday morning of the councillor’s death.

Councillor Cole represented the Winchester Westgate Divison from 1985 to 1989 and from 1993 to 2001 and was replaced as leader by Freddie Emery-Wallis (see story above).

He also served as chairman of Winchester Liberal Democrats during his time as a politician.
