THE date has been set for the funeral of a true community stalwart.

The public are invited to say goodbye to alderman Ted Gale, who sat on Hampshire County Council, at St Mary’s Church, Church Road, Hayling, on Monday.

It will begin at 11am followed later in the day by a private cremation.

Well-respected Mr Gale died on December 7 aged 87 following a fall.

His family have requested donations are made to Queen Alexandra’s Rocky Appeal through Grady’s funeral directors, in Hayling.
