UNEMPLOYED people are being helped to find work by a charity monitoring scheme in conjunction with Winchester City Council.
The authority is working with charity Sova to provide an employment scheme with 11 volunteers who will mentor unemployed people from across the Winchester district, including Whiteley, Denmead and Bishop’s Waltham.
These volunteers will provide support as well as basic advice and signposting to other services.
The service will receive referrals from a range of agencies including Job Centre Plus and Winchester City Council’s housing team.
Cllr Robert Humby, council leader, said: ‘The service will be tailored to suit each individual who will be matched with a dedicated mentor.
‘The mentoring service is provided free as it is one of many initiatives that aim to change lives by getting people into work and training.’
