FORMER London mayor Boris Johnson has been named the new prime minister after winning the Conservative leadership election.

Mr Johnson beat current foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt in the poll of Tory members, getting 66 per cent of the vote, and will replace Theresa May in Number 10 Downing Street.
