Gosport council backs clean-up weekend

A COUNCIL is supporting a national initiative to get people cleaning up their neighbourhoods.

People in Gosport are being urged to join in with The Great British Spring Clean in March.

The three-day event will see volunteers all over the country pick up litter.

Gosport Borough Council is supporting the campaign and will be providing litter-picker tools for adults and children and rubbish sacks for registered volunteer groups. It will also pick up bags once full.

Councillor Graham Burgess, chairman of the council’s community board, said: ‘We’re keen to help any group of volunteers taking part in this very worthwhile national event. Four groups from the borough are already registered and we trust this number will grow.’
