Gosport homes to get warmer thanks to insulation

HOMES are set to get a lot warmer as the final phase of external wall insulation is carried out.

The properties in Rowner, Gosport, are solid wall with a timber frame front and back with no insulation.

But thanks to the help of the Green Deal Communities Fund, Energy Company Obligation and Gosport Borough Council, external insulation is being provided.

Residents have to pay some of the cost.

Carol White, energy efficiency and sustainability officer at the council, said: ‘We are delighted to have been able to achieve such a successful outcome for the residents and cannot wait to see the work complete.

Work is expected to be finished in August.’

Two of the blocks have already been insulated and residents say they are seeing a real difference and are ‘over the moon with the new look of their homes.’

They have been asking for the council to improve the ex-Ministry of Defence maisonettes by giving them a facelift.
