PEOPLE in need of help at home during the winter months will benefit from a new scheme.

Gosport Borough Council has started the Help is on Hand project to offer help and advice to vulnerable people.

It can provide assistance with help around the home including shopping and boiler repairs and help to get your home insulated.

The project will also help with hot meals and a befriending service for people who are lonely.

People who could benefit from the scheme include older people, people with disabilities, families with young children and people with medical conditions.

To find out if you are eligible, call (023) 9254 5655 or e-mail helpisonhand@gosport.gov.uk.

For help out of office hours call 0845 603 0602.

The scheme runs until March 31.
