Gosport Youth Parliament granted tour of Westminister

Young people have been given a tour of Parliament thanks to funding from a Rotary group.

Gosport Youth Parliament is aimed at 11 to 19-year-olds. It represent youngsters in the area and helps to organise activities such as the Gosport Summer Passport, as well as youth awards. It is also helping to plan the next Tour de Gosport cycle event.

Members of the group were shown around Westminister, which was arranged by Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage, as well as sightseeing across London, all paid for by Gosport Rotary Group.

Ms Dinenage said: ‘I wholeheartedly support Gosport Youth Council and its work. It is so important that the voices of young people in the Gosport area are heard by those who are elected and can implement change.

‘I was delighted to be able to organise a tour of Parliament for the Youth Council so they can learn more about democracy and how our political system works. It was great to see an overwhelming number of young women interested in politics.’
