A COMMUNITY association has been awarded more than £2,500 to upgrade its building.

Councillor Keith Chapman, who is responsible for culture and recreation at Hampshire County Council, agreed the grant for Springwood Community Association, in Waterlooville.

The association applied for the grant to put in a ramp with handrails for disabled people.

A sandpit that was installed for a pre-school which previously used the centre will be covered up as it is considered dangerous for the daycare service that now uses the building, in Springwood Avenue.

Ward councillor Ian Beagley said he fully supported the application.
