Gritters to be deployed on Hampshire's roads this weekend '“ but don't expect any snow to fall

Gritter lorries will be on the move around Hampshire on Saturday morning '“ but don't worry, the weather isn't turning that bad yet.

Hampshire County Council has said its lorries will be doing a test salt run between 7am and 1pm, in preparation for cold weather this winter.

The lorries have become a common feature of the county's roads when snow has fallen, including in March this year.

Hampshire Highways team tweeted: '˜Our yellow salt lorries will be out on the roads between 07:00 and 13:00 this Saturday 6th October carrying out a test salt run exercise in preparation for winter.

'˜Give the guys a wave if you happen to see them out and about.'

Forecasters Exacta Weather had predicted that the UK could face '˜four months of snow' this winter, but the Met Office later poured cold water on that claim.
