Hampshire by-elections to be held in May

HAMPSHIRE County Council has announced that by-elections will be held in the Fareham Town and Headley electoral divisions.

It follows the announcement of resignations by two former county councillors.

The names of the candidates nominated to stand for election on Thursday, May 5 in each division will be published on Friday, April 8.

Fareham Town and Headley residents who have not registered to vote will need to do so by Monday, April 18.

Fareham Borough and East Hampshire District Councils will run the by-elections on behalf of John Coughlan, the county chief executive and returning officer.

New applications for a postal vote must reach the electoral registration officers at Fareham Borough Council, and East Hampshire District Council, by 5pm on Tuesday, April 19. Applications to vote by proxy must reach the Electoral Registration Officers at Fareham Borough Council, and East Hampshire District Council by 5pm on Tuesday 26 April.
