HAMPSHIRE MP Chris Huhne has warned energy suppliers they are not doing enough to improve home energy efficiency.

The Eastleigh Lib Dem, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, welcomed evidence that almost 300,000 British homes have had loft and cavity wall insulation installed in the last three months.

But he added that the ‘big six’ energy suppliers would have to double the 100,000 per month average, if they were to meet the target he set them of 3.5m homes by December 2012.

He said: ‘Thanks to tough government targets for the big six, consumers can get free or discounted insulation. But energy companies need to pull their finger out and get on with offering even more energy saving help to households.’
