HAVANT’S new mayor is set to be appointed on Wednesday.

The annual mayor making ceremony will take place at The Plaza in Havant from 11am.

The mayor-elect is Councillor Paul Buckley, who is the Conservative member for Waterloo ward.

He has been serving as the deputy mayor over the past year, as well as chairman of the planning committee.

The ceremony will include a vote of thanks to the outgoing Mayor, Cllr Gerald Shimbart and Mayoress Cllr Elaine Shimbart.

Appointments to council committees will also be decided.
