HMS Collingwood to lead parade on Remembrance Sunday in Fareham

A REMEMBRANCE Sunday service will be held at a church on Sunday.

HMS Collingwood will lead a remembrance parade down Western Road in Fareham to the memorial outside Holy Trinity Church from 9.30am.

The names of loved ones who lost their lives as serving members in British armed forces’ conflict will then be read out before a wreath is laid.

The service will then take place in the church from 10am.

Councillor Connie Hockley, the Mayor of Fareham said: ‘It is important that we remember those who served our nation so bravely.

‘I hope that residents will join us on Remembrance Sunday to give thanks to the servicemen and women who have fallen in past conflicts and to salute their sacrifice.’

The Commanding Officer of HMS Collingwood will be attending the parade alongside the base’s volunteer band.

The Mayor’s Cadet, Able Cadet Adam Pryce-Jones will also be the wreath bearer for the Mayor.

Queens Road, Western Road, Kings Road and Hartlands Road will all be closed between 9.30am and midday.
