Barratt Homes asked 2,000 people which luxuries they would cut back on in order to save the money needed in order to achieve their dream move.

Michelle Storer sales director said: ‘Acquiring a new home is a big financial commitment for anyone and, understandably, many would-be buyers take it very seriously.

‘We all love life’s little luxuries, like holidays and evenings out, but those asked in our survey told us it was worth giving them up for a short while for the greater cause.

‘At Barratt, we do our best to help by offering a number of schemes designed to make it easier to save for a deposit.
