PLANS to build four detached homes on a field are set to be refused over concerns about its impact on the area.

A developer wants to build homes on a one-acre site to the north of 120 White Dirt Lane, Catherington.

The field is currently grass pasture.

The development has been opposed by Horndean Parish Council, which said in a report that the development would ‘significantly and demonstrably outweigh any benefits’.

Officers have recommended councillors refuse the plan when it comes before East Hampshire’s planning committee tomorrow.

It comes as campaigners are fighting to save the last remaining green areas around Horndean.

A council report states: ‘The development, by virtue of its location, scale, massing, amount of hard surfaced areas...would have an adverse visual impact on the character and appearance of the area.’
