THOUSANDS of jobs and homes, plus an improved road network, will boost the local economy after four ministers agreed this week to give £124m to the Solent LEP.

The News ran a ‘Say yes, ministers’ campaign to highlight the need for the investment to come to this area, after the government fund was revealed to be three times oversubscribed.

There was joy on Monday as The News revealed that the funding had been agreed.

Yesterday, housing minister Kris Hopkins said he had seen The News’ campaign and said that there had been some creative submissions by local media outlets across the country, but added: ‘The News was successful.’
