Indian restaurant is named as one of the best in the country

The Tiffin Cup, an annual competition held to find the best Asian restaurant in the UK, gave an award to Café Tusk, in West Street, Fareham.

The competition is run by the Tiffin Club of MPs, who are asked to nominate a restaurant in their constituency as the best South Asian restaurant in the country.

This year, Fareham MP Suella Fernandes nominated Café Tusk after being impressed with the quality of its food and friendliness of its service.

She said: ‘I was delighted to nominate Café Tusk for the Tiffin Cup and was honoured to be able to visit them and give them their certificate.

‘It’s great that a local Fareham restaurant has been recognised and I congratulate all the staff there on their achievement.

‘It’s a superb venue with a lovely atmosphere and it’s always a pleasure to visit. I’ll certainly be back again soon’.

Ahmed Mosud, owner of the restaurant, is very proud of his achievement.

He said: ‘Receiving the prize was really satisfying for me and for the whole staff.

‘We’ve had some great teamwork to get this achievement and the award pays back all our efforts over the past 10 years, from when we first opened the restaurant.

‘We will keep working hard to maintain this level, or do even better.’

Mr Mosud regards the quality of the ingredients and the restaurant’s service as the key to success.

‘I choose the ingredients personally,’ he said.

‘I try my best to offer the highest quality of food. Only with top-quality ingredients can you make top-quality food for your clients.

‘I am very careful about what goes on in my restaurant. I am here every day looking after everything.’

Mr Mosud moved from Bangladesh to Fareham in 1977 and he is proud of bringing his culture to the town.

‘This restaurant is part of my life and I give my best to it and to the clients,’ he said.

‘When I look around now I can tell that I have brought my culture here – people don’t have to go to India to have proper South Asian food as they can have it here in Fareham.’
