PORTSMOUTH’S Labour group leader wants assurances that an investigation into Mike Hancock’s behaviour will still go ahead.

Cllr John Ferrett plans to write a letter to the council’s city solicitor saying the process should still continue – even though the Portsmouth MP and Fratton councillor doesn’t wish to participate.

The future of the probe will be decided at a meeting of the council’s governance and audit and standards committee on Thursday, August 15.

Cllr Ferrett said: ‘My view is, the investigation should proceed.’
