A COUNCILLOR who quit the Liberal Democrats group over the saga surrounding Mike Hancock’s conduct hopes the future will look brighter for the city.

As reported, Cllr Eleanor Scott resigned as cabinet member for environment and community after the decision was made to keep Cllr Hancock in the cabinet. She is still a Lib Dem councillor with federal party membership but not part of the group of councillors attributed to the party’s local group. She said: ‘I hope he (Cllr Gerald Vernon-Jackson) will work very hard to fix the problems that the last couple of years have illuminated, both on the council and within the party.

‘People make problems and people fix them. I am always pleased to help people fix problems. That’s one of the reasons I became a councillor.’
