THE MARINE Conservation Society is inviting members of the public to a litter pick at Southsea beach.

The activity, which will take place between South Parade Pier and the Pyramids Leisure Centre, starts at 10am and will finish at 12pm, this Sunday.

The Society’s Southsea organiser, Cllr Luke Stubbs, said: ‘It’s a chance to clear the beach and keep it clean, which is good because it’s a resource for everyone in the city, a nice place where everyone likes to spend time.

‘It’s also a chance for us to log exactly how much litter there is on the beach, and get an insight into what’s dropped there, and what washes up.’

Cllr Stubbs said: ‘We’ll send the info to the Society’s head office, because it wants a clear picture of how our beaches are kept. It’s a useful starting point for a national clean-up.’

The pick will start at Roxy’s Cafe.
