DRIVERS are warned to expect delays on a busy stretch of road during works.

Portsmouth City Council contractors Colas has said the Rudmore flyover will be shut and the north-bound M275 carriageway reduced to one lane from 8pm and shut completely from 10.30pm tomorrow when traffic will be diverted along Twyford Avenue and Northern Parade in the city.

Works are to start on the southbound carriageway on Thursday and lane closures will be in place from 8pm to 5am on Thursday and Friday.

The carriageway will be reduced to one lane and traffic directed off the motorway at Tipner, down and across Tipner Interchange roundabout and back on to the M275 bus lane, off again at Rudmore roundabout and along Mile End Road.

The council has said the stretch will be fully reopened by 5am each day during the works and all three lanes on both carriageways will be fully operational during the day.

Motorists are urged to allow extra time for their journey and to follow the signed diversions while works are carried out.

The work is dependent on the weather.
