VOLUNTEERS who give up their spare time to help others in their community have been praised at an awards ceremony.

Two Gosport charity groups, Give, Gain, and Grow, and Loud and Proud, held an awards ceremony at Thorngate Hall on Friday.

A total of 44 certificates of achievement were given out by the Mayor of Gosport, Councillor John Beavis.

A cheque for £500 was also presented to the Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service.

Both groups had raised the cash with an event at the Bayside Cabin in Stokes Bay.
