THE mayor of Fareham’s car has been pictured parked in a disabled bay.

It was spotted in the bay at Fareham Leisure Centre at its official reopening on Saturday, September 27.

People have been sharing the picture on social media, with some expressing anger at the misuse of the space.

Executive member for public protection at Fareham Borough Council Trevor Cartwright thanked the public for highlighting the situation.

He said: ‘I’m pleased that this matter was brought to our attention so that the circumstances can be investigated.

‘The mayor was not in the car as it was being parked.

‘Appropriate action will be taken with the officer concerned following the investigation.’
