A NEW estate to be built on farmland next to a village will bring a raft of community facilities.

That will be the message as residents are invited to find out the latest developments for land east of Horndean, where 700 homes will be built.

A community forum meeting will be held at Merchistoun Hall, in Portsmouth Road, Horndean, on Tuesday, December 15, from 6.30pm.

Councillor Guy Shepherd, who oversees villages south of Butser Hill for East Hampshire District Council, will talk about the plan and give details of what community facilities it will bring.

He said: ‘The development of land east of Horndean will bring with it a host of amenities that will benefit the whole village as well as residents of Clanfield and Rowlands Castle.

‘This will be a modern development providing modern homes, affordable housing and community facilities.

‘This is the best opportunity the village will have to get some great new facilities and an historic moment that will shape the village for the future. I would encourage residents from around the area to attend the meeting and find out what it will mean for them.’

New community buildings and a new school are planned.
