The minister of state for the armed forces said she supported the campaign to leave the European Union.

The paper reported that she denounced the ‘layers of fantasy’, ‘bogus scare stories’ and ‘spin’ being promoted by the Remain campaign.

‘There is a lot of hysteria that has been put out,’ she told the newspaper.

‘What we have seen so far has been chaff, decoy material being shot across the port side.’

As previously reported in The News, Ms Mordaunt is critical of the way the referendum campaign has been conducted and she has said she will vote to leave Europe.

The prime minister has warned that Britain would be less safe outside the EU, less able to fight terrorism and secure the border. Portsmouth South MP Flick Drummond supports this and wants to stay in the EU.
