Gosport MP welcomes plans on homelessness but admits ‘it’s a significant problem’

MPS in our region claimed more than £30,000 in two months last year.

Yesterday information on claims made during August and September was released.

In total there were 27,000 claims adding up to £3.5m made by 650 MPs. In our area the largest claims were for rent and mortgage payments.

Portsmouth North MP Penny Mordaunt claimed £1,950 for office rent, Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage claimed £3,302 for accommodation, Havant MP David Willetts received £2,875 for his office rent, and Fareham MP Mark Hoban claimed £970.36 for interest on his mortgage.

Other claims included £75.10 by Portsmouth South MP Mike Hancock for hiring a shredder, £24.24 for Mark Hoban’s TV licence and £2.70 for Gosport ferry travel from Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage.
