THE new leader of Hampshire County Council has said he is looking forward to the new challenge he faces.
Former head of children’s services Councillor Roy Perry has been chosen as the new leader.
He takes over from councillor Ken Thornber, who announced after the local elections last week that he would be stepping down.
Cllr Perry said: ‘I’m daunted and excited. It’s a great county and it’s a great responsibility. I will certainly do my best.
‘We have a very good record and I want very much to sustain and maintain that record.
‘I think that Hampshire is well placed to achieve much.
‘There are complex problems and there are simple solutions. We will do our best to tackle those complex problems.’
