PEOPLE living outside Fareham will have the chance to question the council’s leader on plans for 7,000 new homes on their doorstep.

Councillor Sean Woodward, the leader of Fareham Borough Council, has accepted an invitation to give a presentation and take questions at Knowle Village Hall in Knowle on October 14 from 7pm.

Although the new homes will be built close to the village, Knowle falls inside Winchester City Council’s boundary and people living there have been angry at the lack of consultation from Fareham.

Mandy Wrenn of the Knowle Action Group said: ‘I’m thrilled we’ve got the meeting.

‘We are an impacted community, and it’s not enough to say there were protocols between the two councils stopping it from happening – if you want to do it, you can find a way.’

There will be 200 free tickets to residents of Knowle and 50 for people in Wickham.

It is hoped a further meeting will take place in Wickham. Homes in Knowle will be sent leaflets about the meeting.

Tickets are available by calling (01329) 236100.
