COMEDIAN Omid Djalili has made another light-hearted dig at Portsmouth.
The London-based funnyman tweeted to his 218,000 followers about a gig he had at the city’s Guildhall.
It came after a Portsmouth Twitter user tweeted him the message: ‘Not only do we have no money, we have no sense of humour either’, in reference to an earlier tongue-in-cheek remark about Portsmouth’s Spinnaker Tower.
Djalili wrote: ‘On the contrary, Guildhall Oct 30th one of the best gigs of the tour (despite half my crowd being in Syria).’
The spotlight has been on Portsmouth since four young men from the city died in Syria in the past year after becoming Jihadi fighters for Isil, including Ifthekar Jaman.
Like many before him, he compared the Portsmouth landmark to Burj Al Arab, the luxury hotel in Dubai. But his accompanying message was less than complimentary, with a sign-off hashtag that suggested Portsmouth was not prosperous. ‘Oh it’s #Portsmouth. #DubaiWithNoMoney’ he told his followers.
