It is also hoped the four industrial buildings will bring in more jobs to the enterprise zone.

If approved, the plans submitted by Tidebank will see a 2,751sq m industrial unit in the waterfront section of Daedalus as well as three other two-storey units.

Ward councillor John Beavis welcomed the plans and the start of development in the Gosport-owned section of the site.

He said: ‘Applications for these sort of units are always welcomed because they bring the possibility of job creation.

‘We are delighted to see more jobs coming to Daedalus and we hope that companies will continue to be interested in the site.’

The Daedalus enterprise zone is owned largely by Fareham Borough Council but Gosport owns a section near Lee-on-the-Solent.

Development on the waterfront has been slow as many of the buildings are historic and part of it is a conservation area.

Cllr Beavis added: ‘We want to see the whole site developed and it has been welcoming to see so much progress made already.

‘It has been more difficult for the southern site that Gosport council owns because it’s got buildings of historic interest and is a conservation area.

‘It means it has taken much longer for developments to happen so it is really good news to see these applications.’

One letter of objection was submitted about the three smaller units, called Pegasus, Hermes and Theseus.

It raised concerns on the height of the Pegasus building which will be 18m – the other two will be 10m.

Noise and the impact on the environment were mentioned in the objection as well as questions over whether there would be adequate parking.

These concerns were highlighted for the other application. Fifty-two parking spaces will be built with the three units along with 12 cycle spaces.

The other application for the single building Illustrious will have 68 parking spaces.

The developments will have a mixed use of business, general industrial and storage and distribution.
