Politicians take up civic roles at county council

A COUNCILLOR has taken up a civic role at the county council.

Graham Burgess, a councillor at Hampshire County Council for Lee, was made vice-chairman of the authority.

It comes as Cllr Keith Chapman MBE became chairman, taking over from Cllr Jonathan Glen.

The pair were elected to the roles on Friday.

Cllr Chapman has chosen the themes ‘youth and music’ for the year.

He said: ‘I hope to use my theme of the chairman’s year of music to encourage people to get involved with the many events and music groups on offer across the county.’

He has previously worked on getting public access to the First World War ship, M33, at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
