Pompey team up with council to help people quit smoking
POMPEY are encouraging their fans to lead healthier lives by supporting Stoptober.
Pompey in the Community has teamed up with Portsmouth City Council for the national campaign which gets people to stop smoking for 28 days.
The council’s wellbeing team was at Fratton Park before Pompey’s 5-1 win against Barnet to provide details of support services to help people quit.
Paul Allen, health trainer at Pompey in the Community, said: ‘It’s great to be joining with Public Health. We want Pompey fans to be enjoying matches for many years to come and we know that ditching unhealthy behaviours is key to this.’
Matt Smith, acting director of public health at Portsmouth City Council, added: ‘We’re hoping that our activity on Saturday encouraged people to sign up for Stoptober.’
