The council enlisted the help of Southsea-based film maker, James Sharp, who has previously produced promotional videos for companies such as Nike, Adidas, MTV and BMW.

The two-minute movie gives a whistle-stop tour, showcasing the main seafront attractions and iconic destinations such as Fratton Park and Portchester Castle. The narration is provided by actress, Denise Black, who has appeared in Eastenders, Coronation Street and Benidorm.

‘It's designed to appeal to a broad audience, whether it's British holidaymakers, international visitors, younger people or older people, and whether they're on a budget or they're big spenders.

‘Tourism is crucial to the city's economy  and  supports 13,000 local jobs. By showing off Portsmouth as it is today, this video will help us attract even more visitors.’
