Portsmouth College cadets pay their respects at remembrance service

A BEAUTIFUL but sombre remembrance service was held by the People's Memorial off the Eastern Road in Langstone Harbour's foreshore yesterday.

The Portsmouth College Cadet Combined Cadet Force paraded from the college in Tangier Road down to the memorial before a service was held.

There were reading from Lieutenant Javan Hockley, cadets and from a member of the Royal British Legion before the Lord’s Prayer was recited and two wreaths were laid on the memorial.

Candles were also laid on the memorial.

Peter Bolton, contingent commander said: ‘It was a respectful but sombre service.

‘We were lucky that we got nice weather for it as it was a beautiful setting for our service as there was a real sense of tranquillity and peace.’
