A UKIP proposal for the city to do more to celebrate St George’s Day has been welcomed.

Portsmouth City Council is to look at ways it can put on an event ‘in a manner befitting a patron saint’.

The move was suggested by Ukip councillors Colin Galloway and Stuart Potter.
